COMPARTIR EN: wallycentos Galateia and V headline the North Sound Maxi Regatta; The fourth wallyrocket51 set to launch for an Italian team with strong ambitions on the IRC and ORC circuits; Introduction of the Wally performance Trophy, the new competitive thread of the season; The wallynano class begins to structure itself around a dedicated racing calendar. Monaco, March 19, 2026 - Wally officially opens its 2026 racing season with the second edition of the North Sound Maxi Regatta, set against the spectacular backdrop of the British Virgin Islands. The event marks the starting point of a series of high-level regattas that will continue in the Mediterranean, notably in Sorrento, Porto Cervo and Saint-Tropez. From the legendary wallycentos to the new wallyrocket51, the 2026 season will also be structured around the newly introduced Wally Performance Trophy, designed to reward the best-performing yachts of the Wally fleet throughout the year. The North Sound Maxi Regatta Following a highly successful inaugural edition in 2025, the North Sound Maxi Regatta once again opens Wally’s ambitious racing calendar in the warm, turquoise waters of the Caribbean. This invitational event (20-24 March) will gather 11 maxis, including the iconic wallycentos Galateia and V, which captured the spotlight last year. The renewal of their rivalry represents one of the most compelling storylines in the maxi yacht racing scene, perfectly embodying the essence of Wally: a culture built on design excellence, constant innovation and an uncompromising pursuit of performance. A duel that has already seen a first chapter in the Caribbean during the St Barths Bucket Regatta, where a match race between the two yachts was won by V, setting the stage for an even more exciting contest at the North Sound Maxi Regatta. Alongside the racing program, Wally will also host an informal social gathering for owners and friends of the brand. On March the 21st, an after-race cocktail at the Biras Creek Resort will bring together Wally owners, teams and invited guests in one of the most iconic settings of North Sound. Conceived as a benchmark for contemporary maxi yacht racing, the North Sound Maxi Regatta is rapidly establishing itself as one of the most ambitious and distinctive events on the international circuit. As a founding partner, Wally plays a central role in shaping both the sporting and institutional identity of the regatta, reinforcing its long‑standing commitment to high‑level competitive sailing. More than simply the first regatta of the Wally calendar, North Sound is the symbolic starting line of the season, opening a sequence of major events that will culminate at the Voiles de Saint-Tropez in September-October. Introducing the Wally Performance Trophy To recognise the growing competitive spirit and ambition within the Wally fleet, the 2026 racing season will be structured around the newly introduced Wally Performance Trophy. At each event during the season, the Trophy will be awarded to the best‑performing Wally yacht in both the maxi and rocket classes. Each regatta will therefore contribute to an overall seasonal ranking, ensuring consistent performance measurement and giving real significance to every race. The season will culminate at the Voiles de Saint‑Tropez (26 September – 4 October), where the Wally Performance Trophy will be awarded to the best‑performing Wally yacht of the entire season. A long-standing partner of Wally and one of the most iconic events in international sailing, the Voiles de Saint‑Tropez provides the natural stage for the conclusion of a season defined by sporting excellence. A growing wallyrocket fleet Designed to be quite simply the fastest race boat in the world under ORC/IRC rules, the wallyrocket51 fleet has grown rapidly since its launch. Three boats will compete in the Mediterranean regattas this summer, while a fourth is currently in the final stages of fitting out and due to be delivered shortly. Competition promises to be intense as these experienced teams seek to extract the maximum performance from the formidable wallyrocket51. The wallyrocket71, unveiled in June 2025 during the Loro Piana Giraglia, has already made a strong impression by winning the World Championship in Porto Cervo during its very first racing season. These developments pave the way for the creation of a dedicated wallyrocket class from the 2027 season, offering these exceptional thoroughbreds a competitive platform worthy of their performance potential. The wallynano class on the rise The elegantly designed wallynano37 is also continuing to develop within the Wally fleet. This André Hoek-designed daysailer is beginning to organize itself around a dedicated racing calendar, reflecting the growing interest in the class. Fast upwind and capable of exceeding 20 knots while planing downwind, the wallynano37 has proven to be an exceptional performer, combining elegance, simplicity of use and thrilling sailing sensations. From the Caribbean to the Mediterranean, the Wally racing season unfolds as a continuous sporting journey rather than a series of isolated events. North Sound opens the story, the major international regattas build the momentum and Saint‑Tropez delivers the final chapter. In doing so, Wally reinforces its role far beyond that of a designer and builder of high‑performance yachts, positioning itself as an active force shaping the modern culture of yacht racing.
